Location

Kameoka, Kyoto is surrounded by mountains and deep fog.

"Kiri no Kōbō" is a private lodge where visitors can experience craftsmanship with the freedom of a foggy imagination.
*The name "Kiri no Kōbō" means "atelier and hotel in fog" in Japanese.
Enjoy your stay with a special experience.

Old-fashioned glass, beams that have supported the house for decades, an old-fashioned earthen floor, and a living room that retains old wood. The open space where you can feel the passage of time weaves a sense of comfort.

The workspace is made of solid cedar wood. Woodworking and leather crafting tools and Whetstones are also provided as amenities. The space can be used for craftsmanship, hobbies, reading, or as a working space.

Our facility

Traditional Japanese folk style

The following is an introduction to the facilities at "Kiri no Kōbō".

Exterior view of the building

The open sky and the garden have different looks depending on the time of day and the season. Parking space is available in front of the facility.

Doma Dining

The open dining room is connected to the garden and retains the traditional earthen floor. You can also cook in the kitchen.

Living room

The living room has a sense of openness with beams and ceilings that only an old Japanese house can offer. The catwalk in the atrium also serves as a hideout for the children.

Goemon Bath (Bathroom)

The Goemon Bath is a traditional bath where water is heated over a wood fire. The water heated in the iron kiln is smooth and warms you to the core. A shower is also available if you want to wash your hair or body quickly.

Japanese-style bedroom
(2nd floor)

A pure Japanese-style room with an alcove. From the window, you can see the mountains of Kameoka and the peaceful countryside. You can view the fireworks from the room during the annual Hozugawa Fireworks Festival.
